Christmas comes to Room 3

Everyone gets a chance to cuddle one of our Christmas cuties.

Thank you to Nisha's Mum for these delicious individually named gingerbread cookies.
Some people put their cookies into an array so we could do some multiplication: 3 x 5 = 15, while other people were busy eating theirs, leading us to do subtraction: 26 - 15 = 11.

Merry Christmas everyone!

Room 3 Aquarium

Room 3 students have made and painted clay fish.  These are now on display in our 'aquarium'.  Parents, you are welcome to visit the classroom to see them or leave a comment on the blog.

Mr Cuddles faces surgery

Mr Cuddles underwent surgery before school on Tuesday in the Room 3 Operating Theatre.  We are happy to report that he has made a full and speedy recovery.
The medical team suspected infected neck tissue.

Better out than in!

Hannah C checks vital signs - everything AOK.

Ethan administered anaesthetic in bear size amounts.

Diseased cranial tissue had to be removed from a lesion in the brain.

Two days later, and Mr Cuddles had made a full recovery.

Pathologists examined the brain tissue to determine the cause of illness.

Clay Fish

Our clay fish have been fired, so it was time to undercoat them in white paint so that the background colour looks vivid and bright.

Ocean Layers

As part of our Under the Ocean theme, we have been learning about the different layers in the ocean, their environments and how sea creatures have adapted to live in a particular zone in the ocean.  Our Year One buddies helped us make enough marine animals so that most animals are represented.
After we had finished our wall display, everyone made their own representation using KidsPix.
Thank you for sharing your diagram on the class blog, Kaleb.

Halloween comes to Room 3

We lit our jack'o'lantern for Halloween.

Some people made bats for the classroom door.  We also had spiders hidden in our desks!

We had to find all the ghosts hidden in the picture.

Cheeky Chicks chase children (no, not really!)

Lavendar, Rocket and Marjoram came to visit  us in Room 3.

Jacob showed us the correct way to pick and hold Lavendar.

Chicks felt warm and safe tucked underneath Josiah's arm!

Oh! Oh!  Chicks off the newspaper - could this cause a problem?

Mrs Liesenfeld's last day

On her last day, Mrs Liesenfeld thanked everyone for helping her to become the best teacher she could be during her time in Room 3.  She promised to visit the class again in Term 4.

Humpty Dumpty play in Room 3

The puppeteers.

Kaleb handed out bags of popcorn before the show.

Chloe-Mae was the narrator.

Weka Team's Writers' Omnibus

People share their writing on the Owl Family table.

The Sweet Treats table has plenty of writers and readers!

Ashley reads one of her favourite stories to her Mum.

Hannah's Mum reads her Christmas holiday recount.
What has Jackson and his Dad seen?  Could it be Hoover?

Cheyanne shares writing with her Nana, Cade with his Uncle and Jacob with his Mum.

Delicious morning tea - thanks you, parents

Ashley and her mum, Cade and his uncle sample morning tea munchies

Some people read stories on the Rock Stars table
On Friday, the Weka Team had a Writers' Omnibus when students could share their writing and published work with their parents and family members.  Afterwards we all enjoyed a shared morning tea.  Everyone had something cool to share and parents made some awesome comments in our books.

Leadership (Red Sock) Week

Everyone wore red to celebrate Leadership Day and Sir Peter Blake's legacy.

The school leaders sold red socks which we could wear to school during Leadership Week.

What SSR (sometimes) looks like in Room 3

Hannah T and Mr Cuddles enjoy some quiet time.

Smart uniforms

These girls had their hair pulled back tidily.  How smart they look in their uniforms.

In the Classroom

Mrs Possum and Ethan took a selfie.

It was sensible to try out a possum fur hat after we had written our information reports about Possums.

Desk inspection

Ganujan and Conner have empty book bags!
When we have desk inspection we have to empty our desks and book bags, and then only keep appropriate things in our desks.  Reading books go into our group boxes, rubbish in the paper bin and special personal things go into our book bags for home.

Daisy

Hannah C looks like she has her hands full!
Daisy lives at Cockle Bay School and is often seen strolling through the school grounds.  Occasionally she drops into Room 3 for a visit.
