Mr Cuddles faces surgery

Mr Cuddles underwent surgery before school on Tuesday in the Room 3 Operating Theatre.  We are happy to report that he has made a full and speedy recovery.
The medical team suspected infected neck tissue.

Better out than in!

Hannah C checks vital signs - everything AOK.

Ethan administered anaesthetic in bear size amounts.

Diseased cranial tissue had to be removed from a lesion in the brain.

Two days later, and Mr Cuddles had made a full recovery.

Pathologists examined the brain tissue to determine the cause of illness.

Halloween comes to Room 3

We lit our jack'o'lantern for Halloween.

Some people made bats for the classroom door.  We also had spiders hidden in our desks!

We had to find all the ghosts hidden in the picture.

Jet Streamers split numbers in Maths

We use tens frames and beans to show how we split numbers to make 10

Weka Day Camp - erecting tents

Add caption
We had to work as a team to erect a tent.

Weka Day Camp - cooking sausages over an open fire

You can see how the cooking circle got its name!

Adan and Ben did a magnificent job

Teagan, Celia and Cheyanne waited patiently for their sausage to brown.

Tastes especially good when you have cooked it yourself!

Weka Team's Writers' Omnibus

People share their writing on the Owl Family table.

The Sweet Treats table has plenty of writers and readers!

Ashley reads one of her favourite stories to her Mum.

Hannah's Mum reads her Christmas holiday recount.
What has Jackson and his Dad seen?  Could it be Hoover?

Cheyanne shares writing with her Nana, Cade with his Uncle and Jacob with his Mum.

Delicious morning tea - thanks you, parents

Ashley and her mum, Cade and his uncle sample morning tea munchies

Some people read stories on the Rock Stars table
On Friday, the Weka Team had a Writers' Omnibus when students could share their writing and published work with their parents and family members.  Afterwards we all enjoyed a shared morning tea.  Everyone had something cool to share and parents made some awesome comments in our books.

Technology challenge

Mr Lomas tries out Jeffrey's catapult

Popstick catapults rule!

We visited Room 8 to see them raise flags using pulleys.

We used all sorts of materials, even chopsticks!

We checked out other designs during the Technology Challenge
Will the catapult power the pompoms over the river?

Cockle Bay book character parade

Everyone in Room 3 enjoyed dressing up as their favourite book character.

The book characters took to the playground.

Winter Maths

Can you guess what number we skip counted up to?
We are learning to skip count in fives using gloves.  First we count up, then we count back - that's the hard part because you have to take your glove off very quickly as the class counts back to zero!

Primary Science Week

Jordan measured his rocket shape carefully.

We used a straw to propel our rockets through the air.

Gloop . . . is it solid or liquid?

This was a hair raising experiment for Rebeca!

Karissa, Jacob and Ganujan races their balloon rocket cars.

We cut out paper flowers.  When we placed them in water the petals unfolded as water made the cells in the paper swell.
We did lots of experiments during Primary Science Week.  Some people participated in the Science Selfie challenge and uploaded a photo or video of the balloon rocket car they had made at home.  We looked at all the Science Selfies on the CBS Face Book page.
