Polar Bear Club week 6

Most students from Room 3 and Room 5 joined the Polar Bear Club on Friday.  The new solar panels mean the water in the swimming pool is warmer than other years.  After our swim, Polar Bear Cubs rated how they had found the water temperature and most people found it warm(ish) using a scale of 1 to 10.
Here is the chart showing how we rated water temperature.

May we play with clay today?

Chloe-Mae's clay fish

Bella's clay fish
First we had a Play Clay Day where we played and experimented with clay.  The next day we made a fish out of clay.  Now they must be left to dry out for three weeks before they are ready to be fired in the kiln.  The next stage will be to paint them in creative colours like the fish in the Go Fish Go book that motivated us in the first place.

On Friday, the Weka Team had a Writers' Omnibus when students could share their writing and published work with their parents and family members.  Afterwards we all enjoyed a shared morning tea.  Everyone had something cool to share and parents made some awesome comments in our books.

Our trip to MOTAT

The conductor told us all about the trams in the olden days.

Ashley helped the conductor drive the tram back to MOTAT.

The conductor let Ashley wear his conductor cap after helping drive the tram.

Jacob and Jordan were back at school, even while we were on a trip!

Cade used the hammer, rods and blocks to make a tall tower.

Nisha, Chloe-Mae and Hannah T made a skateboard.

Adan and Ben made vehicles using wheels and axles.

Room 3 and Room 5 worked together on the gear cogs.

A broken thumb didn't stop Daniel pushing Josiah round!

Bella and Daniel look like hobbits!

Jackson played the jandal drums!

Grandparents Morning

Lots of grandparents brought special photos to share with us.

People were intrigued by the mechanics and sheer size of the old telephones.

Some of the olden day photographs were in beautiful wooden frames.

The walkie talkie doll was very popular!

Brianna's mum brought a word processor we could type messages on.
